Blog learning experience

Yes today I am going to write about the learning journey of blogging. You might not know but the only reason that I made this blog was for an English assignment. This is probably the last post as I have fulfilled the 5 post quota.

For the past three weeks I have been blogging about myself. To be honest, this is my first time I have ever blogged and I was not very sure if I was competent enough to do it. Well, I had to do it anyways because it will be graded!

I felt very annoyed when my teacher announced that we had to do a blog. But now, I realised that it was not as bad as I thought it would be. Doing a blog has helped me to realise that blogging is not "no life" as I can expressed my thoughts and feelings through blogging. By blogging, I have further improved my writing skills. By doing a blog, it has also forced me to take some time to think about what I should blog and that has helped me to calm down when I was too stressed with school and tuition work.

Blogging has also taught me that I should be patient as I always try do get things done as fast as possible. For the first 2 weeks of my blogging experience, I always wanted to finish it as quickly as possible because I found it annoying. But during this week of blogging, I found it a leisure to express my feelings and thoughts.

I hope you enjoyed my blog and maybe someday, I might make a new blog!

Bye!

Infocomm Club training...

Today I had a training session from my CCA. My training session today is about Adobe Illustrator.

Well let me explain what Illustrator is. Adobe Illustrator is a vector graphics editor in other words, it is mainly used for graphic design. So what is the difference between Illustrator and Photoshop? Well the answer is quite a lot. Firstly, Illustrator uses vectors while Photoshop uses pixels. When I am using a vector, I can zoom into the picture as much as I want but the picture will never get blur or "pixelated". Whereas in Photoshop it uses pixel so the picture gets blurred or "pixelated". The second difference is that Illustrator is mainly used to illustrate(kind of obvious) while Photoshop is mainly used to tweak pictures.

As my batch never had any experience with Illustrator, we could not get used to the tools and how they worked. A difficulty I faced in Illustrator was selection. Selection in Photoshop was pretty easy because all one had to do was to right click and press the selection button(the way I have described it is not very accurate and detailed). Whereas in Illustrator, I have no idea how to do that.

I do admit that the reason why I am not good at using Illustrator is because this is the first time I have played with it. I will be forced to used the Illustrator again so I hope I would be better at it.

I hope to better myself at using Illustrator so I can enhance my designing skills.

Australia trip 2009

Today I am going to talk about where I went during the December holidays. As the title says it I went to Australia last year. I went to New South Wales, the southern part of Australia. The main reason my family went to Australia was to have fun and attend some relative's wedding.

What was suppose to be a 3 day wedding trip turned into a two week holiday when my uncle planned the holiday schedule. On the first day, we arrived at the Sydney airport. We rented 2 cars and our first stop was Kiama. What I enjoyed the most in Kiama was the blowhole. The blowhole was something which I had never seen in my entire. I was amazed at the sight of the blowhole as it sprayed water up to 25 meters.

The second stop I went was Canberra. I did not have that much fun there as the only thing we did there was shopping and going to the flea market.

The third stop which I enjoyed most was Cooma. As it was summer, the temperature was not so cold. The temperature was only about 23 degrees Celsius so it did not really affect us. Somewhere in Cooma, we drove to the Snowy Mountains for half a day where I suffered quite alot. As it was summer, we could not experience snow. In the Snowy Mountains, the temperature there was about 2 degrees Celsius. I was fully equipped to fight the cold but the only thing I did not have were a pair of gloves. First we had to climb 1 kilometer to get to the top where we could have lunch at some restaurant. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed until the end of Christmas. From that point , we continued to walk further into the mountains. After another kilometer of walking, the bad weather kicked in and it started to shower mini hail stones at us. The journey had to stop as we feared that the hail would deteriorate. I was actually quite happy to go back as my hands were freezing!

Lastly the next stop was Sydney where the wedding was held there. A day before the wedding, my Australian cousins brought me around Sydney. We walked the Sydney Habour Bridge. I realised that alot of people jog on the bridge. From the bridge, we could also see the Sydney Opera House. On the wedding day, I experienced a different type of wedding where the registry of marriage was held in a garden.

I greatly enjoyed the experience in Australia and I hope to go there again!

My interest: Photo thwarting

Hi I'm back(again) and today I am going to talk about my interest! Well in this blog you might ask what is Photo thwarting? Well its basically using this software Adobe Photoshop to do anything to improve or screw the picture up.

Let me tell you about how I got to know this program...

It all started last year when I joined my CCA where I had to do a project called ViSIT( Victoria Science Integrated Tutorial). We made these tutorials using Photoshop and Flash for children ranging from 9-12. The tutorial is similar to a powerpoint slide but it looks much more attractive and interactive. My job was to create icons for the home button, forward button, back button, etc.

After a while, I got better at it and I began to enjoy "Photoshopping". During the end of year holidays, I went to Australia with my family. When I returned to Singapore, I decided to use my Photoshop knowledge to make my version of the iPod people. So far, I have made 5 "iPod people" and I am considering to do more if I have the time. One difficulty I faced to complete a "iPod person" was cutting the person out of the image. It is the most time consuming process to complete an "iPod person". I always feel a great sense of accomplishment after "Photoshopping" a picture as it is uniquely mine.

My "Photoshopping" skills are not that great but I hope to improve on it some time in the near future.

Here are some my "art".

Enjoying Home Cooked Food

Well today I am going to blog about food. I did not go out to some restaurant to blog about but to dedicate this to the people who have been feeding me this homely, nutritious and toothsome meal.

First let me introduce what has been cooked today. The dish at the top left is called water crest.
Wolfberries and almonds
have been added to further enhance
the taste of the vegetable.
Because it has been boiled in the soup,
the water crest has absorbed some of the
soup in it. So when you chew on it, some of the soup
will "burst" into your mouth.

The dish at the top right is called "Ngohiang"
(not sure what its called in English).
Basically its yam, peanuts and onions wrap in bean
curd skin deep fried in oil. For your information,
this is the vegetarian style of "Ngohiang".
The original version has meat in it.
In my opinion, I do not like
to eat the vegetarian type as I
find the texture of the yam weird.

The last dish is just an omelet with some onions and chicken mixed together. What was special about this dish was that there was a balance between the chicken and the egg.

Lastly, to end off the meal, I drank the water crest soup which was boiled from water crest(kind of obvious), wolfberries, almonds and some pork ribs. Because of the wolfberries, the soup tasted sweet.

To sum it up, I enjoyed the meal!

I would like to thank my mother for buying the ingredients back from the market, my maid for cooking the food and my grandmother for making the "Ngohiang".

Hi

Hi I am Syn Kae. I live in ******** and I am** years old. I can not tell you where I live but I can tell you where I do not live. Firstly I do not live in Mars nor Neptune but I live somewhere on the Earth. I am an average citizen of ******* and do not have an interesting/exciting life.

I am in the Infocomm Club.So far I have learnt how to use a few softwares like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Flash, Adobe Dreamweaver and Blender. Above all the softwares I have learnt so far, I only know how to use Photoshop well.

Just because I am in a CCA which people assume it is where "nerds" go to, I enjoy to play sports, especially soccer.

I enjoy to eat, sleep and play like any average human being. I enjoy trying different types of food, thus, I love to go out with my family to try different types of restaurants.
